Basketball Recap: Bunker Hill Takes a Loss

Bunker Hill lost against Newton-Conover back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bunker Hill Bears were beaten by the Newton-Conover Red Devils 61-19. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 457th, while the Red Devils are ranked 99th).

Eliana McClain was Bunker Hill's leading scorer, having posted nine points.

Bunker Hill has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Newton-Conover, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bunker Hill will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on West Lincoln at 6:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Newton-Conover also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against East Burke at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
