Soccer Game Preview: Los Fresnos vs. Harlingen

The Los Fresnos Falcons are taking a road trip to challenge the Harlingen Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Harlingen will be up against a hot Los Fresnos squad: the team just extended their winning streak to seven. Everything went Los Fresnos' way against Veterans Memorial on Friday as Los Fresnos made off with a 5-1 victory. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Chargers are ranked 392nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Harlingen waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Golden Eagles get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. Juliana Garcia had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Cardinals.

Los Fresnos pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those four matchups. As for Harlingen, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.

Los Fresnos beat Harlingen by a goal in their previous meeting back in February, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Los Fresnos since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
