Basketball Game Preview: Mayfair Monsoons vs. Millikan Rams

Having just played yesterday, the Mayfair Monsoons will head out on the road to face off against the Millikan Rams at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Mayfair's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Mayfair's tournament run continued when they took on Aquinas on Friday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, Mayfair made off with a 62-61 victory over Aquinas. Given the Monsoons' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Falcons are ranked 724th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Millikan sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-52 win over Leuzinger on Friday.

Millikan's win came from a few key players Mayfair will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Joseph Wicker, who went 7 for 8 on his way to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isma?Il Abdul-Rahman, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards.

Millikan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since the start of last season.

Mayfair pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Millikan, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-5.

Mayfair was able to grind out a solid victory over Millikan in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, winning 69-61. Will Mayfair repeat their success, or does Millikan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
