Basketball Recap: Lake Worth Comes Up Short

Lake Worth was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 63-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the NSU University Sharks. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sharks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Lake Worth lost, don't look at Sean Standifer. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 42.9% of Lake Worth's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Tariq Mcleod, who went 5 of 11 en route to 13 points and five boards.

It was another big night for Xavier Osecola, who went 10 for 21 on his way to 27 points along with six assists and four steals for NSU University. That's the most points Osecola has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Jones, who went 6 of 12 en route to 15 points.

Lake Worth's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for NSU University, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-7.

Lake Worth didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 59-50 victory against Park Vista on the 31st. NSU University has also already played their next contest, a 75-18 win against Key West on the 1st.
