Baseball Recap: Westmont Find Success

Westmont proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 15) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Lincoln Park Lions 6-5.

Briggs Templeton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Jaxson Chinea was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three RBI. Ricky Yenkin was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base.

Westmont's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln Park, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
