Basketball Recap: American Heritage Academy Takes a Loss

American Heritage Academy played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 90-51 loss at the hands of the Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas Falcons. The Patriots were not able to make up for their defeat to the Falcons from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, American Heritage Academy still got an impressive performance from Jacob Rodrigues, who shot 6-for-9 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 42 points and ten rebounds. The match was Rodrigues' ninth in a row with at least ten points. Brandon Wirig was another key player, putting up two points and 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, American Heritage Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Jayden Aranas continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas, posting 33 points and four steals. With that strong performance, Aranas is now averaging an impressive 15.7 points per game. Another player making a difference was Caleb Wingate, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.

American Heritage Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2.

American Heritage Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Trinity International at 5:50 p.m. on Wednesday. American Heritage Academy is facing Trinity International at the right time seeing as Trinity International is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas, it'll be Battle of the Birds when the Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas Falcons duke it out with the Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.4 points per game this season.
