Basketball Recap: Campbell County Wins High-Profile Contest Against Thunder Basin

On Thursday, Campbell County faced Thunder Basin in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Campbell County Camels had just enough and edged the Thunder Basin Bolts out 65-62. For the Camels, this counts as revenge for the 66-54 win the Bolts walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Campbell County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Truman Degrange led the charge by going 7 of 12 en route to 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lane Hladky, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 20 points and five assists.

Campbell County is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points per game. As for Thunder Basin, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-4.

Coincidentally, Campbell County and Thunder Basin will both be playing Sheridan the next time they take the court. Campbell County will host Sheridan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Thunder Basin will head out to face them at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
