Softball Recap: Cobden Comes Up Short

After soaring to 12 runs the game before, Cobden was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They lost 12-1 to the Shawnee Redskins. The defeat continues a trend for the Appleknockers in their meetings with the Redskins: they've now lost three in a row.

Cobden saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Pitts, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. Pitts is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another was Keela Kaszubski, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Cobden's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Shawnee, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-7.

Looking ahead, Cobden will square off against Norris City-Omaha-Enfield at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Shawnee, they will face off against Benton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rangers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something the Redskins will no doubt try to take advantage of.
