Preview: Salmen Spartans vs. Lakeshore
The Salmen Spartans will head out on the road to face off against Lakeshore at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Salmen has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Lakeshore will arrive with four straight victories.
Last Friday, Salmen ended up a good deal behind Slidell and lost 62-48. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Salmen has scored all season.
Lakeshore has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 22 points or more this season. Everything went their way against South Terrebonne on Friday as Lakeshore made off with a 69-45 win. Given Lakeshore's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while South Terrebonne is ranked 309th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Salmen has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Lakeshore, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Salmen beat Lakeshore 80-67 in their previous matchup back in January. Does Salmen have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lakeshore turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
