Basketball Recap: Doniphan-Trumbull Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

If Gibbon wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Doniphan-Trumbull, they should've done a better job of containing Parker Volk. The Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals were the clear victor by a 74-51 margin over the Gibbon Buffaloes on Friday thanks in part to Volk, who went 13 for 14 en route to 31 points and six boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Doniphan-Trumbull's points.

Another player making a difference was Jack Poppe, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 assists. Those 11 assists gave him a new career-high.

Doniphan-Trumbull is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Gibbon, they dropped their record down to 5-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Doniphan-Trumbull has already played their next game, a 56-48 win against Adams Central on the 18th. Gibbon has also already played their next contest (against Amherst), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
