Baseball Recap: Mercer Island Takes a Loss

Mercer Island lost against Juanita back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Islanders fell just short of the Ravens by a score of 3-2. The Islanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chase Koehler was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Gabe Lopez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.

Mercer Island's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Juanita, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Mercer Island wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 5-1 defeat against Liberty on the 23rd. As for Juanita, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-8 victory against Lake Washington on the 23rd.
