Baseball Game Preview: Cleburne County Tigers vs. White Plains Wildcats

Cleburne County is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will head out to square off against the White Plains Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. Cleburne County is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

It was a proper cat-fight when Cleburne County challenged Pell City on Friday. The Tigers fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 4-3.

Cleburne County got a good showing from Jacob Pentecost, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time Pentecost hasn't allowed a single earned run since back in February.

At the plate, Gavin Robinson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, while it was White Plains who put the first runs on the board on Saturday, it was Handley who put up more. The Wildcats fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 7-6. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by just one run.

Cleburne County's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for White Plains, they dropped their record down to 11-13 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Cleburne County might still be hurting after the 10-3 defeat they got from White Plains in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
