Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Defeat Ends Mifflinburg's Winning Streak

Mifflinburg dropped their record down to 6-6 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 7-2 to the Williamsport Millionaires. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Millionaires from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Mifflinburg saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaden Boyer, who went 2-for-4 with one double.

As for Williamsport, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games.

On Williamsport's side, Cole Deitrick made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Deitrick has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Christian Franzen was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Williamsport's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Ryan Schur, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mifflinburg will square off against Southern Columbia Area at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Williamsport, they will challenge Shamokin Area at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
