Football Recap: J.L. Mann Starts Season with Defeat at Home + How To Watch

J.L. Mann unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Midland Valley Mustangs on Friday, falling 46-21. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-0.

Xavier Geter was nothing short of spectacular for Midland Valley: he threw for 461 yards and four TDs while completing 88.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 78 yards and one touchdown on only five carries. Those four passing touchdowns gave Geter a new career-high. Midland Valley also got help from Jaylen Washington, who showed off his sure hands for 89 receiving yards.

Looking ahead, J.L. Mann is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on Gaffney at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Midland Valley, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Blythewood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
