Softball Game Preview: West Seneca West Warhawks vs. Williamsville North Spartans

West Seneca West hasn't had much luck against Williamsville North recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Warhawks will host the Spartans at 5:25 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

West Seneca West is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Saturday. They lost 10-4 to Williamsville South.

Meanwhile, Williamsville North fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Frontier on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 8-7. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Ava Schmidt and Brooke Minnuto stepped up to the plate in a big way. Schmidt got on base in four of her six plate appearances with one run, while Minnuto went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Sophia Schmidt, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

West Seneca West's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Williamsville North, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

West Seneca West couldn't quite finish off Williamsville North in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 11-9. Can the Warhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
