Recap: Doral Academy Firebirds vs. Cypress Bay Lightning
If the Doral Academy Firebirds were feeling good off their 52-27 takedown of the Reagan Bison on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Doral Academy fell just short of Cypress Bay by a score of 61-59. Doral Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Cypress Bay apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Doral Academy lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Oscar Hernandez, who scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was Martin Nunez, who scored 15 points.
Doral Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. As for Cypress Bay, their win bumped their record up to 12-9.
Doral Academy and Westminster Christian will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Cypress Bay, they will be playing at home against Fort Lauderdale at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
