Basketball Recap: Kennedy Davis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Centura over Fort Calhoun

Centura was the 57-24 winner over Fort Calhoun when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Centura Centurions took a 44-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fort Calhoun Pioneers. The Centurions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Centura lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kennedy Davis, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Taya Taukiuvea, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fort Calhoun to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maelie Nelson, who posted ten points in addition to five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Raeann Massey, who put up 11 points and three steals.

Centura's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Fort Calhoun, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Centura wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 47-38 loss against Sandy Creek on the 4th. As for Fort Calhoun, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-48 defeat against Howells-Dodge on the 4th.
