Baseball Recap: Douglas Byrd Takes a Loss

Douglas Byrd was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 28th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Lumberton Pirates, falling 25-0. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 17-0 to the Pirates when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Douglas Byrd's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Lumberton, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Douglas Byrd will venture away from home to square off against Gray's Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Gray's Creek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Lumberton, they are taking a road trip to challenge West Bladen at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
