Softball Recap: Union Grove Christian Beats True Gospel Christian for Their Third Straight Victory

Union Grove Christian entered their tilt with True Gospel Christian on Tuesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the True Gospel Christian Grizzly a 15-0 shutout. With that win, the Patriots brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Morgan Donovant and Faith Hege made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Donovant pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hege pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Donovant has allowed since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Donovant scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Hege went 1-for-2 with three runs and one triple. Donovant has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddy McDaniel, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those runs were her first of the season. Isabella Lott was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Union Grove Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .864. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Union Grove Christian now has a winning record of 3-2. As for True Gospel Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Union Grove Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Scotland Christian Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. True Gospel Christian will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Calvary Christian at 4:30 p.m. on April 8th.
