Softball Recap: Petal Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Petal challenged DeSoto Central on Saturday. The Petal Panthers came up short against the DeSoto Central Jaguars, falling 7-1. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Rylie Hensarling was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. What's more, she gave up only four walks, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.

Petal's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for DeSoto Central, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Petal wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 13-3 victory against Satsuma on the 1st. As for DeSoto Central, they are taking a road trip to square off against South Panola at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (South Panola: 2.4, DeSoto Central: 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
