Recap: Silver Lake Mustangs vs. Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs
It was a good run, but the Silver Lake Mustangs unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They were outmatched by Sumner-Eddyville-Miller on the road and fell 61-18. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Silver Lake has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Silver Lake still got an impressive performance from Katy Soucek, who scored five points along with three blocks.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Silver Lake struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Sumner-Eddyville-Miller racked up 13 assists.
Sumner-Eddyville-Miller was led to victory by Mikah O'Neill and Taryn Arbuthnot. O'Neill scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Arbuthnot dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. O'Neill hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayleigh Jackson, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Silver Lake's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3. As for Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, they pushed their record up to 13-1 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home.
Silver Lake will head out on the road to face off against Harvard at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Harvard comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, they will play host again and welcome Ansley/Litchfield, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Ansley/Litchfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Friday.
