Basketball Preview: Trinity Catholic Celtics vs. Interlachen Rams

The Trinity Catholic Celtics will be playing at home against the Interlachen Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Trinity Catholic is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Last Thursday, Trinity Catholic was the victim of a tough 70-48 defeat at the hands of the Buffalo. While losing is never fun, Trinity Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 398th, while the Buffalo are ranked 90th).

Meanwhile, Interlachen scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Calvary Christian Academy on the road to the tune of 74-36. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Interlachen had established a 29 point advantage.

Interlachen found their leader in underclassman Kaleb Mckinnon, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mckinnon has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kemontae Nixon, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Trinity Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Interlachen, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-12.

Trinity Catholic ended up a good deal behind the Rams in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, losing 78-62. Thankfully for Trinity Catholic, Justin Herring (who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
