The Pembroke Pines Charter Jaguars waltzed into their game on Friday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They enjoyed a cozy 83-67 victory over Hallandale. Given Pembroke Pines Charter's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Hallandale is ranked 295th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pembroke Pines Charter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ramez Zayed led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Zayed has scored all season. Maximo Ortega was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds.

Pembroke Pines Charter has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Hallandale, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12.

Pembroke Pines Charter will take on Northeast at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hallandale will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Saint Andrew's at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st.
