Basketball Recap: Devine Triumphs

Devine's tournament run continued when they took on Harlandale on Friday. The Warhorses / Arabians escaped with a win against the Indians by the margin of a single free throw, 69-68. Given the Warhorses / Arabians' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Indians are ranked 700th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Devine's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.0 points over those games. As for Harlandale, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Devine and Davenport will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warhorses / Arabians will need to watch out since the Wolves have now posted at least 55 points in their last four contests. As for Harlandale, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Winn at 1:30 p.m. on the 23rd.
