Baseball Recap: Sulphur Bulldogs vs. Newcastle Racers
Sulphur had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 14-10 to make it four. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Newcastle Racers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Racers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 on Monday.
As for Newcastle, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-2 record this season. The victory was nothing new for Newcastle as they're now sitting on seven straight.
For Newcastle's part, Tyler Frazier spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up seven Ks. Frazier has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lane Seaton was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Connor Leader also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sulphur will square off against Durant at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Newcastle, they will face off against Community Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
