Basketball Recap: Antonio Love Key Part of a Team Effort in Chargers Win

After losing to Muskogee the last time they met, Memorial decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Memorial Chargers snuck past the Muskogee Roughers with a 61-56 victory on Thursday. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Roughers are ranked 171st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Memorial's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Antonio Love, who went 5 for 11 en route to 19 points. That's the most points Love has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Garrett, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.

Memorial has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Muskogee, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-8.

Memorial and Edison will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. As for Muskogee, they will challenge Stillwater at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Muskogee's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
