Basketball Game Preview: Jackson Vikings vs. Northwest Mounties

The Jackson Vikings will take on the Northwest Mounties in a tournament on Monday. Northwest took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Jackson, who comes in off a win.

Last Thursday, Jackson didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Holt, but they still walked away with a 41-37 victory.

Meanwhile, Northwest ended up a good deal behind Harper Creek on Friday and lost 57-42. While losing is never fun, the Mounties can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 467th, while the Beavers are ranked 127th).

The win got Jackson back to even at 11-11. As for Northwest, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Jackson against Northwest in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 71-39 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jackson since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
