Softball Recap: Tampa Catholic Takes a Loss

Tampa Catholic fell victim to Chamberlain and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Storm by a score of 1-0. The Crusaders have struggled against the Storm recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Maddie Fulgueira was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tampa Catholic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lillie Bridges, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Tampa Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Chamberlain, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-3.

Looking ahead, Tampa Catholic will be playing in front of their home fans against Shorecrest Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Chamberlain, they will head out to face off against Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Storm's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dragons have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season.
