Basketball Recap: Neville Snags Tenth Victory in Last 11 Games

Neville won against Alexandria last Friday with 46 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Neville Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 46-43 win over the Ruston Bearcats. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Bearcats are ranked 92nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Joy Fisher continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jayla Taylor, who posted eight points and five boards.

Neville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Neville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points per game. As for Ruston, they dropped their record down to 8-11 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Neville has already played their next contest (against West Monroe), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Ruston has already played their next game, a 71-48 victory against Gibsland-Coleman on the 28th.
