Softball Recap: Londonderry's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to 17

Londonderry put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their undefeated season alive. They put the hurt on the Alvirne Broncos with a sharp 14-2 win. Considering the Lancers have won nine matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Londonderry got a massive performance out of Allison Chambers, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that Chambers has launched this season. Addison Martinez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Londonderry was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Londonderry pushed their record up to 17-0-1 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Alvirne, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Londonderry will square off against rival Pinkerton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lancers 0.9, the Astros 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Alvirne is set to face off against their familiar foe Timberlane at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
