Baseball Recap: Fairmont Senior Makes It Four in a Row at Home

While Fairmont Senior's victory against North Marion wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Polar Bears won by a run and slipped past the Huskies 4-3. The Polar Bears haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Brayden Gorby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Fairmont Senior's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cole Sammons, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Another was Logan Canfield, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.75 runs across that stretch. As for North Marion, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairmont Senior will head out to challenge Elkins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for North Marion, they will venture away from home to face off against John Marshall at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
