Softball Recap: Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs vs. Martinsville Artesians
Franklin Community and Martinsville pushed the score to 16-3 the last time they played Martinsville, but on Wednesday defenses reigned supreme. The Grizzly Cubs narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Artesians 3-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Grizzly Cubs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Bryleigh Carlisle-Haltom spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Franklin Community saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adeline Blackwell, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
