Soccer Game Preview: San Luis vs. Greenway

The San Luis Sidewinders will face off against the Greenway Demons at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. San Luis is coming into the game hot, having won their last 11 games.

San Luis' defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over Boulder Creek. Given the Sidewinders' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Jaguars are ranked 26th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Luis Garcia and Pablo Pulido scored both of San Luis' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 18 goals.

Meanwhile, on WednesdayMoon Valley kept up with Greenway until halftime, but afterwards: not so much. Everything went Greenway's way against Moon Valley as Greenway made off with a 4-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Demons, who have now won six matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Greenway's lineup was just a bit different on Wednesday as Giovanni Ibarra got a bit more time on the pitch (80 vs. his season average of 60). Ibarra made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal and one assist A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

San Luis' victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 30 goals over those eight games. As for Greenway, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.
