Basketball Game Preview: Point Pleasant Big Blacks vs. Scott Skyhawks

The Point Pleasant Big Blacks will head out to square off against the Scott Skyhawks at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Point Pleasant is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Last Thursday, Point Pleasant came up short against Sissonville and fell 48-36. While losing is never fun, the Big Blacks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 555th, while the Indians are ranked 72nd).

Meanwhile, Scott also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Phelps by a score of 74-66.

Point Pleasant will need to focus on slowing down Colin Williamson, one of several Scott players who made an impact when they last played. He went 6-for-15 to rack up 24 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The match was Williamson's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Walls, who posted 18 points and five assists.

Even though they lost, Scott smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Point Pleasant's loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Scott, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

Point Pleasant ended up a good deal behind Scott in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, losing 39-22. Can Point Pleasant avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
