Baseball Recap: East Bay Find Success

East Bay took a 12-run loss the last time they faced off against Newsome, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Indians won by a run and slipped past the Wolves 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Indians have posted since March 13th.

J.J. Groover looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jeffrey Diab, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Rory Beauford was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

With the win, East Bay broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-11. As for Newsome, they moved to 16-4 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

East Bay wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 8-2 victory against Alonso on the 7th. As for Newsome, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against King on the 3rd.
