Preview: Ashe County Huskies vs. Newton-Conover Red Devils
Ashe County has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Newton-Conover Red Devils at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. Newton-Conover took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Ashe County, who comes in off a win.
Last Thursday, Ashe County was able to grind out a solid victory over Millers Creek Christian, taking the game 53-41.
Ashe County got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Bryce Peters and
Harrison Langdon, who each put up five points.
Meanwhile, Newton-Conover lost to West Caldwell at home by a decisive 67-53 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, Newton-Conover can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while West Caldwell is ranked 88th).
Ashe County's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Newton-Conover, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-4.
Ashe County lost to Newton-Conover on the road by a decisive 59-40 margin in their previous meeting last Thursday. Can Ashe County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
