Basketball Recap: Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy Comes Up Short

Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt an 85-37 defeat at the hands of the Silver Valley Trojans. Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-22.

It was another big night for Jasean Phillips, who went 14 for 20 on his way to 30 points for Silver Valley. Phillips has become a key player for Silver Valley: the team is 8-4 when he posts at least 25 points, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Javion Taylor, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 15 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Silver Valley, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy will venture away from home to take on Riverside Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy is facing Riverside Prep at the right time seeing as Riverside Prep is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Silver Valley, they will head out to square off against Hesperia Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
