The Sand Creek Scorpions will square off against the Pueblo South Colts at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Sand Creek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.2 runs per game this season.
Sand Creek gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Palmer as Sand Creek made off with a 22-6 win. The Scorpions haven't had any issues with the Terrors recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Avyn Walter and Braden Hunnanm made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Walter pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Hunnanm tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-low in hits. At the plate, Walter scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his six plate appearances, while Hunnanm scored two runs while going 1-for-1. Hunnanm also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Sand Creek let Jackson Lucero and Carson Lucero run wild. Jackson went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while Carson scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four hits gave Jackson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Walter, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.
Sand Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .514. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Pueblo South waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bears a 3-0 shutout. While the Colts didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Pueblo South saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Nolasco, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Pueblo South's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sand Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Saturday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sand Creek has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .519. However, it's not like Pueblo South struggles in that department as they've averaged .491. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
