Football Recap: Shields Takes a Loss

Shields extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-4. They were beaten by the Leroy Bears 52-14. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-6.

As for Leroy, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.6 points on average over those games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Leroy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jace Sellers, who threw for 138 yards and three touchdowns on only nine passes. The dominant performance also gave Sellers a new career-high in rushing yards (21). Joshua Reed was Sellers' top target, picking up 84 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Shields didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-6 loss against McKenzie on the 26th. As for Leroy, they have also already played their next game, a 44-14 victory against Washington County on the 25th.
