Basketball Recap: Providence Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Providence Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a 50-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tri-State Christian Crusaders. If the Griffins were looking for revenge after losing 93-65 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Providence Christian Academy lost, don't look at Bryce Unruh. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten steals. Unruh has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 35 times he's played. Clayton Starkey also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Tri-State Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brandon Swort led the charge by going 8 for 15 en route to 16 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Will Davis, who went 6 of 7 on his way to 16 points.

Providence Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Tri-State Christian, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Providence Christian Academy has already played their next game, a 73-57 defeat against Fellowship of Christian Athletes on the 21st. As for Tri-State Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-42 loss against Avon Grove Charter on the 21st.
