West Lincoln beats East Burke for their third straight win

Recap: West Lincoln Rebels vs. East Burke Cavaliers

On Thursday, The West Lincoln Rebels got themselves on the board against the East Burke Cavaliers, but the East Burke Cavaliers never followed suit. They were the clear victor by a 26-0 margin over the Cavaliers. The result was nothing new for West Lincoln, who have now won four games by 26 points or more so far this season.

It was another big night for Jaylin Winnex, who rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries.

The team's defense also helped out by holding East Burke to a paltry 189 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to West Lincoln's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Bryce Beddingfield and his two sacks.

The win was the third in a row for West Lincoln, bringing their record for this year to 8-1. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely East Burke, West Caldwell, and Newton-Conover. As for East Burke, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

West Lincoln will look to defend their home field on October 27th against Lincolnton at 7:30 p.m. Lincolnton is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games. As for East Burke, they will head out on the road to face off against West Caldwell at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. West Caldwell is on a four-game streak of home losses, East Burke a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
