Basketball Recap: Mcewen Snags Ninth Win in Last Ten Games

McEwen had won four straight home games and Laila Downs did her part to make it five on Monday. The McEwen Warriors couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 71-23 blowout they got against the West Creek Coyote thanks in part to Downs, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds. The contest was her 16th in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Littleton, who went 5 for 7 on her way to 15 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals.

McEwen is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for West Creek, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

McEwen wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 57-50 win against Camden Central on the 7th. West Creek has also already played their next contest, a 60-41 loss against Kenwood on the 14th.
