Basketball Game Preview: NCSSM: Durham Unicorns vs. East Wake Academy Eagles

Having just played yesterday, the NCSSM: Durham Unicorns will head out on the road to face off against the East Wake Academy Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (NCSSM: Durham has four straight victories, East Wake Academy has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

NCSSM: Durham will head into Monday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 27) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Franklin Academy out 61-59. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Unicorns have posted against the Patriots since November 8, 2016.

Meanwhile, East Wake Academy came up short against Wake Prep Academy on Friday, falling 65-44. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 601st, while the Guardians are ranked 190th).

NCSSM: Durham pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points per game. As for East Wake Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.

Everything came up roses for NCSSM: Durham against East Wake Academy in their previous matchup back in January, as the team secured an 85-56 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for NCSSM: Durham since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
