Volleyball Recap: Northwestern Comes Up Short

Northwestern lost against Onalaska back in August of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Tigers fell 2-0 to the Hilltoppers.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Onalaska scored at least 17 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-17.

Shelby Hessel paced Northwestern's offense, picking up seven kills. Hessel got some help from Emma Dahl and her seven assists. Hessel was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Onalaska found their leader in sophomore Mckenzie Bauer, who had 15 assists and four digs. Bauer is crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 12 every time she's taken the court this season.

Northwestern's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Onalaska, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Northwestern wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Pittsville on the 28th. As for Onalaska, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Richland Center on the 28th.
