Basketball Recap: Fleming Island Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Seven Gourdet and Gianna Crawford

Fleming Island lost against Orange Park back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Fleming Island Golden Eagles lost 57-31 to the Orange Park Raiders. The contest marked the Golden Eagles' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Fleming Island's loss came despite strong showings from Gianna Crawford and Seven Gourdet. Crawford posted seven points and eight rebounds, while Gourdet had five points and seven rebounds. Crawford has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played.

Orange Park got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ella Crowe out in front who went 7 of 12 on her way to 17 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Young, who put up four points along with eight assists and six steals.

Fleming Island's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Orange Park, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Fleming Island will venture away from home to face off against Westside at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fleming Island is facing Westside at the right time seeing as Westside is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Orange Park, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 71-38 defeat against San Jose Prep on the 7th.
