Baseball Recap: Mattawan Snags Ninth Win in Last Ten Games

After only one run in their last match, Mattawan made sure to put some runs up on the board against Chippewa Valley on Saturday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Big Reds. Considering the Wildcats have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Mattawan got a massive performance out of Brody Houseman, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Houseman has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Jominy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mattawan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chippewa Valley only managed five hits.

Mattawan has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Chippewa Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-12-2.

Coming up, Mattawan will challenge Lakeland at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Chippewa Valley, they will face off against Bay City Western at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday.
