Football Preview: Richmond Hill Wildcats vs. New Hampstead Phoenix        
        
		
             The Richmond Hill Wildcats will head out to  take on the New Hampstead Phoenix  at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication,  both  will really light up the scoreboard.
 Richmond Hill's defense heads into the  matchup  hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed  on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Everglades 45-0 at home. Given the Wildcats' advantage  in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states  (they are ranked 38th in Georgia, while the Gators are ranked 211th in Florida), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
 Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Richmond Hill to victory, but perhaps none more so than   Kirk Scott, who rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 36 yards and a touchdown. Scott got the majority of those yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible74 yards.  Joshua Troupe was in the mix  too, providing Richmond Hill with two  rushing touchdowns touchdowns.
 Richmond Hill's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of  Cannon Kuryla and  Caleb Easterling. Kuryla also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up  a  sack and making three total tackles (2.0 for loss) in addition to snagging   an  interception.  Steven Robinson was another major factor on D,  picking up  four  sacks and making six total tackles (4.0 for loss).
 Meanwhile,  it was close, but  on Friday New Hampstead sidestepped Effingham County for  a  47-44 victory.
 A big part of the  win came down to the chemistry between  Rashawn Truell and his top target  Kamari Maxwell. Truell threw for 470 yards and five touchdowns while  Maxwell picked up 284 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
 Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, New Hampstead was moving up and down the field and  finished the game with 539  total yards. That's the most  total yards they've posted since  back in September of 2023.
 The  victory made it two in a row for Richmond Hill and  bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for New Hampstead, they now  have a winning record of 2-1.
 Richmond Hill came out on top in a nail-biter against New Hampstead in their previous meeting  back in September of 2023, sneaking past  28-26. The rematch might be a little tougher for Richmond Hill since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
