Baseball Game Preview: Tahoma Bears vs. Kentwood Conquerors

For the second straight game, Tahoma will face off against Kentwood. The Bears will head out to square off against the Conquerors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Tahoma's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Kentwood's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Tahoma took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Kentwood by a score of 9-4.

Neal Burtis tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Tahoma got a big performance out of Adam Jay, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Lucas Post was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Tahoma is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Kentwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Tahoma has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Kentwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
