Recap: Pottsville Crimson Tide vs. Williamsport Millionaires
The Pottsville Crimson Tide lost to the Williamsport Millionaires back in December of 2022, but the Pottsville Crimson Tide didn't allow the Williamsport Millionaires the same satisfaction on Wednesday. Pottsville snuck past Williamsport with a 43-37 win. Given Pottsville's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Williamsport is ranked 621st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pottsville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Christian Alvarez led the charge by scoring 11 points. The contest was Alvarez's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Letrel Montone, who scored nine points.
Pottsville is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Williamsport, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pottsville will finish 2023 at home by hosting Shamokin Area at 1:30 p.m. on December 30th. Williamsport will be home for the holidays to greet Dallas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
