Softball Recap: Crystal Lake South Gators vs. Jacobs Golden Eagles

Crystal Lake South had lost 14 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-23 to make it 15. They lost 11-1 to the Jacobs Golden Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 back in April.

Crystal Lake South saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Barda, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

As for Jacobs, the win got them back to even at 16-16. They not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 24th (when they won 13-0).

On Jacobs' side, Audrey Wetzel spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crystal Lake South will head out to square off against Larkin at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Gators' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Royals have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Jacobs, they will venture away from home to challenge Antioch at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
